National Recovery Month 2015 celebrates stories of people in recovery, writes Michael Botticelli in this month's feature article in the ATTC Messenger, and September 2015 is packed with activities across the nation sharing the Recovery Month message that treatment and prevention work and people do recover from mental health and substance use disorders.

And as President Obama says in today's  Presidential Proclamation, "This year's theme is "Join the Voices for Recovery: Visible, Vocal, Valuable!"  It encourages us all to do our part to eliminate negative public attitudes associated with substance use disorders and treatment."

The webinar lineup for Recovery Month 20125 offers almost daily opportunities for us to learn about innovations in treatment and recovery as well as ways to change attitudes. Here are just a few (well, 10) that you won't want to miss:

The ONDCP webinar  “Innovative Practices in Medication-Assisted Treatment and Primary Care” presents two models for integrating treatment for opioid use disorders. Watch this webinar to learn more about CoOP model that Dr. Botticelli discusses in the ATTC Messenger article. You can also learn about Rhode Island's Opioid Treatment Health Home Program. Launched in October 2013, the OTP HH now includes 22 Health Home teams providing integrated care to 2,600 people in 12 clinics across the state.  This webinar aired on August 27, but is now available for viewing on YouTube.

Also on August 27: the Providers' Clinical Support for Opioid Therapies (PCSS-O) presented Opioid Use Disorders in Hispanics/Latinos, presented by Dr. Angel Gonzalez. This webinar will be available for viewing in the near future--check the website for updates.

SAMHSA offers a variety of multimedia Recovery Month 2015 resources, including the  2015 Road to Recovery TV Series. On September 2, you'll want to catch New Technologies for Whole Body Health and Wellness.
Date: Airs Wednesday, September 2

The 2015 National Frontier and Rural ATTC 3rd Annual Technology Summit will also cover the latest innovations in technology treatment for addiction treatment and recovery:  September 2 and 3, in Austin, Texas. While this is not a webinar that you can add to your Recovery Month calendar, I'm hoping that summit proceedings or recordings of the awesome speakers lined up just might be available online for future reference.  Stay tuned!

(Update, 9/18/15: the NFAR Summit presentations are now available on the NFAR website!)

What happens after people complete treatment for a substance use disorder? They return to families communities that may either support or challenge a new recovery-based lifestyle. A Recovery Oriented Systems of Care (ROSC) is a coordinated network of community-based services and supports. This person-centered system builds on the strengths and resilience of individuals, families, and communities to help people with substance use disorders achieve recovery and improve their quality of life. The Great Lakes ATTC offers a variety of resources on Recovery Oriented Systems of Care, including its Behavioral Health Webinar Series. Find out more about ROSC on Wednesday, September 23:  ROSC and MAT Part II: Opioid Treatment Services.Wednesday, September 23. 1:00-2:30pm ET

So that's just 10 webinars, a two-day summit, and a one-day symposium out of the many events, presentations, and activities across the nation that are helping to make recovery visible, valuable and vocal this Recovery Month 2015.
